Got2Act

minack drama 2015

Senses Australia and Sense, a deafblind charity based in the UK, proudly present GOT2ACT, a drama group who is travelling to Perth from Cornwall, England.

GOT2ACT was formed just over a year ago, its members are young people who have a keen interest in the performing arts and are all deafblind.

GOT2ACT will be performing two short plays:   ‘American Idol’ – the life and times of deafblind activist Helen Keller.  Having performed this play in their local area, the group received outstanding critical acclaim, which led to the production being performed at the Deafblind International European conference in Belfast.   Furthermore, the play took centre stage at the world Deafblind International conference opening ceremony in Romania.

GOT2ACT will also be performing a second play ‘The Great Explorer’ about Cornish explorer Richard Lander.

Now it’s Perth’s turn to witness these extraordinary plays in an intimate setting at Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough.  Join us on Wednesday, 28 October 2015.  Tickets are just $10 each.

Who is GOT2ACT?
“The group evolved following a series of drama therapy workshops which explored imaginative and spontaneous abilities of this group of young people.  This was demonstrated through a wide range of techniques such as improvisation, role play, mime, script work, movement, dance, props, puppetry and voice,” says Simon Allison, Sense UK’s Project Coordinator.

“The young actors in the group have dedicated many, many hours of hard work through their practices and performances.  Indeed, those who have witnessed the group in action have compare their inspirational talents to that of Helen Keller herself,” says Simon.

The group have been tirelessly raising funds to support their visit to Perth.  The performances are part of a youth exchange visit with Senses Australia.
